Lough Corrib Angling Report 01/07/09 Corrib and Mask have been fairly quiet this week, with most trout feeding on perch fry. Some anglers are having great sport around dawn targeting fish feeding on Caenis, and late evening sedge fishing can also be productive.
The Mick Molloy 10K - Irish Running Tours Way back in the 1980's a race was held around the town of Oughterard over the gentle sloping hills that swept down to the shores of Lough Corrib. Well guess what folks, its back, it's bigger, and it's better than ever! Saturday July 18th at 5pm, kids fun run at 4pm. Entry is €15 before July 13th, €20 on the day. Kid's entry is €3. Connemara 100 'Connemara 100' will take place on Saturday, 15th August, in Connemara - One hundred miles of running in majestic Connemara! The Connemar 100 on the West Coast of Ireland is run over a measured and certified course and a full AA1 permit will be applied for. The course is simply fabulous, taking participants from Clifden through Ballyconneely, Roundstone, a full lap of the Connemarathon Ultra, then northwards towards Lettergesh and Letterfrack and back to Clifden. There is a 30-hour limit, and every participant must have their own crew with them at all times to look after water, food, etc. There will be medical support but, because the course stretches over such a long distance, there may be up to 25 miles between aid stations. So, experienced crew support is essential and mandatory.
Derroura Mountain Bike Trail Derroura Mountain Bike Trail Network, over 16 kms in length, lies at the gateway to Connemara.
