Oughterard Tourist Information Office Receives Awards The two Fáilte Ireland Irish Welcome Awards in 2004 were awarded to the Oughterard Tourist Information Office for a second year; the office won five awards in 2003. The two Certificates of Merit that have been awarded are a mark of recognition for the valuable contribution made to the tourism industry in Ireland. The standard of nominations was very high and a panel of Industry representatives chose the finalists.

The awards are intended to acknowledge the work of people on behalf of Irish Tourism, not only for their hard work and dedication, but also for the extra efforts that are made to ensure that all visitors experience the “Céad Míle Fáilte”. The Irish Welcome Awards is all about hearing and exchanging the wonderful stories of friendship and warmth that those working on behalf of Irish Tourism are renowned for.

With support from FÁS through the Social Economy Programme, the Oughterard Tourist Information Office has been able to continue expanding its services and expertise both to the tourists and to the local community.

The Oughterard Tourist Information office is open all year round.
